Calderdale Dementia Friendly Community hosted an important awareness-raising event at Halifax Town Hall, at which the husband of the late Dame Barbara Windsor, Scott Mitchell, spoke about his wife’s battle with Alzheimer’s and how they coped as a couple.
In front of a large audience of health care professionals, businesses, voluntary groups, council staff and local politicians, the husband of the late Dame Barbara Windsor, Scott Mitchell, who is an Ambassador for Alzheimer’s Research UK, spoke about his wife’s battle with Alzheimer’s and how they coped as a couple.
Scott spoke at length about the couple’s relationship during an interview conducted by local MP, Holly Lynch, before attendees were invited to take part in a question and answer session with him.
Calderdale Dementia Friendly Community recorded a short interview of their own with Scott, after the main event, in which he spoke about the need to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s and dementia and how both individuals and organisations can become more dementia-aware. A video of the interview is above.
